Sometimes referred to as a "diskless wonder", the T1000 was unique for its time in that it came with DOS 2.1 built in. Big deal, right? Except the DOS was built into a CHIP (firmware) rather than a hard disk. You can use other operating systems on this machine, but if you boot it without a disk it will come up in DOS 2.1. It also had a RAM drive, although if the battery completely drained the contents would be lost. At the time the machine could run for around five hours on a single battery charge, which can easily be attributed to its screen type and lack of a hard drive. This machine is considered by many to be the first true "laptop".
